All members of the BTCSA agree to be bound by the following:
The mission of the Biewer Terrier Club of South Africa is to preserve and protect the quality of the Biewer Terrier, its health and well-being, to promote the international breed standard, and to protect the interest of the breed and individual dogs.
The purpose of our Code of Conduct is to provide club members with guidelines for living responsibly with the breed and to advance the objectives of the club. All members should bear in mind that this Code of Conduct is not merely a set of rules, but also a commitment to a high standard of practice of ownership, sportsmanship and ethics directly affecting the welfare and enhancement of the breed. Our actions will therefore be a true reflection of our personal code of ethics and our own integrity. Adherence to the spirit of this Code of Conduct is as important as adherence to the specific guidelines in order to advance the integrity of the Biewer Terrier Club of South Africa.
By joining the BTCSA, I, as a club member, therefore agree to:
Ensure that all dogs in my care are properly housed with adequate nutrition, shelter, human companionship, socialization, exercise and veterinary care to maintain the best standard of health and quality of life, knowing that ownership of a dog is a lifelong commitment, requiring special care in later years.
Maintain control of my dogs in public, and clean up after my dogs in public places or when they are exhibited, not allowing them to roam at large, nor to become a public nuisance or burden.
Ensure to the best of my ability that no dog of mine will be brokered, wholesaled or consigned through a pet shop, auction or any other commercial establishment; also that they are not offered as prizes in contests, raffles or any other fundraising events.
Provide assistance to dogs of our breed in need of rescue or re-homing.
Display good sportsmanship. Conduct myself in such a manner as to reflect credit to the club. Not to degrade any fanciers, breeders or their kennels deliberately.
Participate in the club activities. Strive to become more educated about the Biewer Terrier in attending educational meetings and at least one annual meeting per year.
Any member failing to adhere to and abide by this Code of Conduct, may be liable to censure or expulsion from the club. The discretion of the committee and their decision will be final in any such matter.
